The Minster and his unknown passenger

I want to start by saying we don’t worship angels.

Colossians 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.

Angels do God’s bidding and are sent to minister to those who are heirs of salvation.

Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

A preacher received a call asking him to come to the hospital because a dying man wanted to meet with him. The preacher took his Bible and went to the hospital. Upon entering the room, the sick man invited him to take a seat.

The sick man told the preacher that he needed to ask for forgiveness and began sharing his story. He asked the preacher if he recalled holding a revival at the church for a week many years ago, to which the preacher responded that he did remember.

He said that you parked your car behind the church and always exited through the back door; the preacher confirmed this.

The sick man stated that he attended those meetings every night and felt a strong conviction each time. He also mentioned that he became extremely angry at you during your preaching each night.

On the night before the last night of the revival, I became so angry that I went home and decided to shoot you after the service the next night.

I loaded my gun the night of the last revival service and took it with me to church. During the service, I got up in the middle and went outside to the back, waiting for you to come out to your car.

An hour or so passed, and you came out to your car, and I saw you get in, so I proceeded to your car before you drove away.

And then, to my surprise, on the passenger side, I saw that huge man with you. When he looked at me, my anger turned into fear. I was so shaken up that I could not move as you drove away.

As the preacher heard the story, he forgave and prayed for him before leaving.

As he drove away from the hospital, he thought of the story and knew that every night he left the revival, he drove to the hotel alone with no passenger in his car. That night, an angel of the Lord was his passenger.

The Bible speaks of angels many times in many places.

For those wise Christians, fear God, and the angel of the Lord will be with you and deliver you.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Psalms 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

Psalms 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
