“Here and Faster”: Experts Warn Climate Impacts Are Surging

Global heating has transitioned from a distant threat to a defining part of daily life, with temperature records and disaster statistics serving as belated warnings.

Scientists now assert that the climate emergency is accelerating faster than many models predicted, and the damage to our food, shelter, and energy systems is already evident. The key question has shifted from whether climate change is real to how much worse it will become compared to previous forecasts.

The latest data reveals a troubling trend: the planet is warming rapidly, impacts are intensifying, and our window for a controlled transition is shrinking. Record ocean temperatures and rising disaster costs show that even a slight temperature increase can destabilize coastal cities and food supplies.

Recent years have reshaped our understanding of extreme weather, with the last three being the hottest on record. Global temperatures are nearing the international limit of 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit above pre-industrial levels. This sustained heat, despite occasional natural variability, underscores the major impact of human-driven warming on the climate system.

The year 2025 is concerning, ranking among the three hottest years on record, despite being influenced by a moderate La Niña phase, which usually cools temperatures. This unexpected heat reflects a long-term upward trend in global temperatures, even during La Niña years.

As air temperatures rise, oceans heat up further. Researchers identified 2025 as the warmest year on record for the upper sea layers, leading to stronger storms, faster ice melting, and rising sea levels. These changes in the global water cycle heighten the risk and severity of disasters.

A recent assessment of the global water system shows that changes in rainfall, evaporation, and soil moisture are increasing extreme weather events. Improved forecasting and evacuation planning have saved many lives, but our ability to adapt is being challenged by a rapidly warming world, pushing the limits of infrastructure and governance.

The impacts of the climate crisis are significant and hard to overlook. In 2025, the United States had 23 weather-related disasters, each costing over a billion dollars, with extreme weather affecting areas from the Gulf Coast to the Midwest. Last January, wildfires in Los Angeles caused more than half of the total damage, demonstrating the collision of fire seasons and urban development and resulting in losses of over $100 billion.

Climate change is causing more frequent and severe natural disasters. Studies show that rising temperatures lead to higher mortality rates and increased damage. Reports indicate that the impacts may occur sooner than expected, costing trillions and underscoring that many economic models underestimate the rapid escalation of damage once critical thresholds are crossed.

Climate scientists are not surprised by recent findings, but the speed of change remains sobering. The latest IPCC assessment, compiled by over 270 researchers from 67 countries, highlights that impacts are occurring faster than previous projections. It also emphasizes the need to address both loss and damage alongside emissions reduction.

In 2026, climate change is viewed as a daily concern for businesses, governments, and households. Dianne Plummer emphasizes this shift in her Forbes analysis. Recent climate reports document an unprecedented period of global heat driven by industrial pollution, highlighting current impacts rather than just future risks.

Luke 17:26  And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

Luke 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

Luke 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

Luke 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and diseases; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Matthew 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

Matthew 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Matthew 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. And the evil servant would not be watching for his return and he would receive the same as a hypocrite.

Matthew 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

Matthew 24:50  The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

Matthew 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Matthew 7:23  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work sin.
