Ebola Experts Breaks Silence on Frightening New Developments

The current Ebola outbreak is the third largest on record, with over 1,000 cases and 233 deaths, including healthcare workers and Congolese Red Cross volunteers.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared it a public health emergency. Aid agencies fear there may be more undetected cases, as the outbreak likely began in January and went unrecognized until May 15.

The virus triggers inflammation throughout the body, causing blood vessels to leak and blood pressure to drop significantly. This can lead to the failure of vital organs like the liver and kidneys.

In severe cases, internal bleeding worsens the damage, resulting in disturbing images of victims. Ultimately, dehydration, circulatory collapse, and multiple organ failure are what prove fatal.

A person who has died from Ebola remains highly infectious, as the virus can persist in bodily fluids after death. This is why specially trained teams use strict protective measures for handling and burying Ebola victims.

The outbreak has spread to Uganda, while early potential cases in Brazil and Italy have been ruled out by health authorities. Misinformation on social media has led to clinic attacks and people avoiding hospitals.

This outbreak, caused by the rare Bundibugyo strain of the virus, has no vaccine, raising concerns that it may exceed the 2014-2015 West Africa outbreak, which resulted in over 11,000 deaths.

There is no vaccine for the Bundibugyo virus, and treatment is supportive care. Patients exhibit Ebola-like symptoms, such as fever, headache, vomiting, severe weakness, abdominal pain, nosebleeds, and vomiting blood.

Most Bundibugyo virus cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) involve individuals aged 20 to 39, with about two-thirds being female. There were two previous outbreaks: one in Uganda in 2007 and another in the DRC in 2012, with death rates of 25% and 50%, respectively.

This is the 17th Ebola outbreak in the DRC since 1976, following the last one that ended in December 2025.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Ebola virus’s discovery in Zaire, which has experienced 17 outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Scientists worry it is only a matter of time before the disease spreads to unprepared countries outside Africa.

Today, healthcare staff must wear multiple layers of restrictive PPE, limiting their time in isolation wards to 40 minutes. An important but often overlooked factor in Ebola outbreaks is the link to illegal gold mining.

The 2014 Ebola outbreak was linked to mining areas in Guinea, and a recent outbreak has emerged in gold-mining towns in Ituri province, Democratic Republic of the Congo, near Uganda.

Healthcare workers, including cleaners, nurses, and doctors, face significant risks during outbreaks. Speed is essential for tracking the virus, as a 100-case outbreak can lead to about 2,000 contacts needing follow-up.

Ebola’s devastating effects, which allow the virus to spread uncontrollably across a continent, are a terrifying possibility. The current outbreak may reach Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, with 250 million residents.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked waysthen will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and diseases; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
