A team of scientists from the U.S., China, and elsewhere has developed embryos that are a mix of human and monkey cells for the first time in history.
The researchers injected 25 stem cells from humans, known as induced pluripotent stem cells, into embryos from macaque monkeys.
The scientists then grew the mixed embryos in test tubes for up to 20 days in order to study how the animal and human cells communicate with one another.
These scientists are saying to implant human stem cells in an animal embryo so that it will grow specific human organs. The approach could, in theory, provide a ready-made replacement for a diseased heart or liver – eliminating the wait for a human donor and reducing the risk of organ rejection.
These half-human half- animals are called chimeras. The term comes from Greek mythology.
Chimeras in science describe any creature containing a fusion of genetically distinct tissues.
In modern terms, we would call them monsters. They say their goal is not to generate any new organism, any monsters.
It reminds us of Victor Frankenstein in the movies where a mad scientist tries to play God and bring to life his own creation.
It is hard to believe these scientists are going to stop with just understanding how cells from different organisms communicate with one another.
Human-animal chimeras blur the line about what it means to be human, and this raises serious ethical questions.
We are made in the image of God created by God.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
If a chimera with human-like brains wherein human cells is incorporated into an animal’s brain during development and it had rationality and self-awareness as a human then the moral question is should these be treated more like a human than an animal.
Once again in this modern world man tinkering with things he should not.
Everything was pure and right when God created it where man makes disfigured things of God’s perfection.
Genesis 1:36 And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. Whereas man saw everything he made, and behold it was flawed.
Which is the beast the half-human half-animal or the evil scientist and governments that do this? God would say both!
