A modern tent revival, nine years in the making, is touring the nation, reporting record salvations and baptisms.
Organizers of the Jesus Tent Revival movement say it is transforming the nation’s spiritual landscape, starting in 2019 in Kokomo, Indiana. “People come under that tent as atheists, Buddhists, or Muslims,” they explain.
Dr. Braden Andersen, founder of Jesus Tent Revival, was inspired by a night in Kokomo and motivated by a local pastor. In 2022, he decided to sell his medical practice and home to take the tent revival nationwide.
Andersen stated, “Impacting people with the gospel felt much more important than our clinics or emergency room work. While I’m grateful for that work, this truly makes a difference in eternity, and we felt the time was right.”
And if America is this hungry, let’s bring them, Jesus. That unprecedented hunger has led people to drive for hours and stay in hotels to encounter God.
“There’s a simplicity and power in that atmosphere that resonates with America,” Andersen said. “America is hungry like I’ve never seen before.” The ministry collaborates with local churches hosting the revival for coordinated follow-ups after each service.
A pastor from The Pentecostal Church in Fort Smith, AR, has seen God’s work at the tent revivals. One night, our neighbor crossed the field to attend and said, “I’ve never been to your church, but I wanted to come to this revival.” That evening, he was baptized and saved.
It was remarkable that he lived near the church for years without attending. Many at the tent meetings speak of newfound freedom. One man said, “He saved me from drugs and fornication.”
An unnamed woman stated, “I felt broken and lost until the Lord filled me with the Spirit.” The tent revival has seen record numbers of spontaneous baptisms, with lines so long that they form before, during, and after services. Andersen noted, “This has become a significant challenge for us.”
Crowds for baptism are beginning to gather even before services start. For example, over 300 people were baptized in a single weekend in New Albany, Indiana, and similar events have occurred in Fort Smith and Little Rock, Arkansas, as well as in Florida and other parts of Indiana.
When asked about the rewards of moving from physical healing as a doctor to spiritual healing, Andersen stated, “My wife, an ER nurse, and I often reflect on our experiences in the hospital.”
When we go home at night now, the stories we hear of lives that are changed are so much more significant and occur so much faster than we could have ever achieved through medicine. It is truly fulfilling.
As demand continues to exceed capacity, the Jesus Tent Revival is expanding internationally, with meetings scheduled in Canada. “Jesus represents hope, peace, and power,” said the Pastor. “That is what our nation, our youth, middle-aged individuals, and elders are all seeking. With the current state of the world, everyone needs Jesus.”
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
So don’t be like many on the internet who try to work out everyone else’s salvation, but work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
