NATO could launch Retaliatory Strike on Russia as WW3 Fears soar

NATO may need to counterstrike Russian military bases in Kaliningrad due to the Kremlin’s provocations.

Moscow is disrupting GPS signals along Europe’s eastern border, impacting both military operations and civilian air and sea traffic.

Experts are worried that a serious accident involving commercial aviation might be imminent due to Russia’s daily interference with GPS systems in the Baltic, northern Poland, southern Finland, and parts of Germany. This concern follows Moscow’s alarming response to Trump’s warning to Putin.

This disruption affects civilian aircraft, requiring backup systems. As a result, flights have been canceled, and planes have had to reroute or abort landings. Finnair has not operated flights to Estonia for over a month due to safety risks related to GPS interference.

Russian electronic warfare (EW) systems in Kaliningrad, including the Okunevo antenna and jamming systems such as Borisoglebsk-2 and Murmansk-BN, are the primary sources of these disruptions. These systems have also been deployed in Ukraine.

Interference with GPS can cause pilots to lose satellite navigation unexpectedly during flights, increasing the risk of crash landings or mid-air collisions. In response to these threats, NATO has rapidly developed an alternative navigation system called R-mode.

This system guides aircraft and ships using terrestrial radio beacons, thus eliminating the need for GPS satellite input. However, officials from Germany and the Baltic states have expressed concerns about the reliability of these emergency systems in preventing catastrophic crashes.

Vessels in the Baltic Sea near Kaliningrad have been significantly hindered by jamming, resulting in a troubling loss of positional accuracy. This disruption not only challenges navigational precision but also amplifies the risks in these vital waters.

NATO has issued a strong warning to Russia, stating that if a commercial plane or passenger ferry crashes due to GPS jamming, it will not be viewed as an accident, but as a deliberate escalation.

If a crash caused the loss of hundreds of civilian lives, the political pressure on NATO to respond would be immense, along with all the potential risks of escalation that could follow.

Military analysts are concerned that a NATO country might attack Russia’s jamming systems in Kaliningrad, providing Russia with a pretext to retaliate and shifting the narrative to undermine the defensive nature of Article 5.
