What does it mean to be a Christian? Christians are to carry out the teachings of the Bible and spread Jesus’ message to the world.
Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
While you are on Earth, you carry the responsibility of (representing Jesus.)
(Representation:) the act of speaking or acting on behalf of someone or the state of being so represented.
1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
When people see you, they should see the presence of Christ reflected in your actions and words.
Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Jesus Christ is who every Christian represents on earth.
Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Christians have standards of conduct which one should act, based on the teachings of the Bible which are Christian values.
Honesty means telling the truth and being straightforward. These qualities form the foundation of honesty.
Ephesians 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.
Integrity is being faithful to one’s convictions. Following the principles of the Bible helps maintain integrity and avoid hypocrisy.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Compassion is a vital part of genuine Christianity and the distinguishing feature of a Christian life.
1 Corinthians 16:14 Let all your things be done with love.
1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover the multitude of sins.
Christians can only represent Jesus by being spiritually reborn by the word of God. This spiritual rebirth will give Christians the mind of Christ, aligning their thoughts, attitudes, and actions with Jesus’s teachings and values.
That way, we have the mind of Christ.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
