This study links church attendance and participation in activities to deeper outcomes related to the belief, practice, and expression of faith.
The findings from the State of Christianity in America show that gaps in personal transformation and action exist. About two-thirds of U.S. adults affirm key beliefs, such as Jesus’ resurrection (64%) and His death for sins (70%).
Additionally, 61% identify as “followers of Jesus Christ,” highlighting the continued significance of Christian identity in American culture. While many respondents agree that salvation is a gift of God’s grace and not earned by good works, only 33% believe they will go to heaven through faith in Jesus.
This suggests that many people who go to church do not believe they’re saved. Christian ministries must focus on preaching the assurance of salvation and helping believers move from intellectual understanding to heartfelt confidence.
The survey reveals a divide between private devotion and consistent spiritual practices, indicating a trend toward isolated faith. Notably, personal prayer is the most common discipline, with around 60% of adults engaging in regular prayer or worship.
Only 35% of people read the Bible regularly, and 45-50% do not read any Scripture during a typical week. Only 38% participate in church-based small groups or Bible studies, indicating that just two out of five Americans have meaningful faith connections.
Outreach and discipleship are rare; only 36% share their faith, and just 31% have mentored someone in spiritual growth. While many claim to have faith, few integrate it into their daily lives, reflecting a shallow understanding of Christian principles.
However, there is a concerning lack of discipleship: only 31% of adults have mentored someone in their faith journey, and just 36% seek to share the gospel. Notably, non-Christians engage in “discipling” activities at similar rates—around 13-14%—suggesting a broader interest in spiritual mentoring.
Many believers embrace their faith but do not actively share it. Nearly 70% of Americans have never helped someone grow in their faith, creating a barrier to fulfilling Jesus’ commission in Matthew 28:18-20.
While 54% agree that following Jesus has transformed their attitudes or behaviors, internal changes are more common: 61% have forgiven difficult individuals because of Jesus’ teachings, and 57% report greater inner peace or joy.
Only 40% of people say their friends or family have noticed changes, and fewer than half engage in active service or make lifestyle sacrifices related to their faith.
In today’s digital age, only 11% have tried the lie called”AI Jesus” chatbot, while 74% strongly disagree with accepting AI advice that contradicts the Bible. Two-thirds reject the idea that AI can reveal truths beyond scripture.
Overall, the analysis shows that Christianity in the USA lacks depth, with gaps in practice, discipleship, and visible fruitfulness.
Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
James 1:10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
James 1:11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
1 John 3:17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matthew 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
Matthew 15:8 draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 Peter 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
Many in the church world are not interested in the truth but prefer a version of the Bible that pleases their ears. Unfortunately, this is happening now at the end of the world.
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
These individuals are self-absorbed and seek pleasure, which leads them to gravitate toward false preachers and lukewarm churches.
2 Timothy 4: 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Eternal life is the most important thing a person can obtain on earth, but many don’t take it very seriously.
Philippians 2:20 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
