The news has been bad since covid started. People are angry and confused and nothing seems to change for the good. A variety of things and people are to blame: social isolation, politicians, talk show hosts, authorities, and harmful ideas from social media.
There is a social breakdown of civilization, caused by addiction, overdoses, violent crime, suicide, sexual confusion, war, starvation, and the church falling away from the truth.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first.
Falling away in Greek means falling away from the truth.
The Church is supposed to be the spreader of the light (truth) but it has lost its way as well. Slowly the light has dimmed or has gone out in many churches. The problem is the breakdown of moral values in society.

Civilization has reached a moment where it’s out of touch with the inspiration that made it. And there’s a critical transition moment at the end of the world when it goes down to decline.
It seems that civilization is on a steep decline and the end of the world is close. People around the world are suffering from a catastrophic loss of meaning.
Christians know that the only true meaning in life is God’s love for humanity by sending his son for us to believe in to receive salvation.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
I John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
I John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
Christians must continue to give whatever good we can to the world. Each and every one of us that are believers must share the light that God has bestowed on us.
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
As we get closer to the end and the resurrection we must be faithful to God and how He instructs us to live.
1 Thessalonians 4:12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
As verse 18 says, when things in civilization look gloomy then comfort each other with the knowledge that Jesus will return and deliver us from this world.
