A Gift to the Poor and Needy is a Gift for God

When you assist the poor and needy, you are offering a meaningful gift to God.

During the holiday season, people exchange gifts with one another. Have you ever thought about giving a gift to God?

As Christians, it is both our duty and privilege to help those who are less fortunate than we are.

Let’s make a difference in their lives by giving generously and spreading kindness whenever possible. Together, we can bring hope to those who need it most.

During the holidays, it’s clear who needs support. Yet, many churchgoers fail to embody Jesus’s compassionate example. Let’s do better and help those in need, just as Jesus would.

Here’s your chance to make a difference this holiday season, not just for yourselves, your loved ones, or your friends, but for those who are less fortunate.

There are many ways to support those in need. You can donate to a food bank, volunteer at a soup kitchen, spend time with the elderly, provide aid to the homeless, or offer financial assistance to poor and hungry individuals.

What actions would Jesus take this holiday season? This important question invites us to reflect on our values and inspire compassion and kindness in our celebrations.

Did you know that more than 9 million people around the world die from starvation every year, with a significant portion of them being children? Alarmingly, over 800 million people lack access to the essential amount of food needed to lead a healthy and active life.

It’s astounding, especially when you consider the vast number of people who identify as Christians in this world.

Being a Christian means embodying your faith in everyday life, not just attending church on Sundays and identifying as one. True commitment requires action, compassion, and living out Christian values.

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Pastors should emphasize to their congregation the significance of giving to the poor and hungry, in line with Jesus’ teachings.

If you believe in God, now is the perfect time to take action and help the poor. By doing so, you are lending to God and fulfilling a vital responsibility.

“By giving to the poor and needy, you lend money to God, and He will repay you.”

Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Acts 20:35 I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

When you give to the poor and needy, you are giving directly to God. Conversely, when you choose not to give to the poor and needy, you are withholding from God.

Matthew 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Matthew 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matthew 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

Matthew 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

Matthew 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 25:42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

Matthew 25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Matthew 25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Matthew 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
