Leviticus 23:25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.
It is a “sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts.” Hence its other name – the Feast of Trumpets. A shofar is blown during the service at the synagogue.
At Rosh Hashanah, Jews celebrate the creation of the world. The day before, some Jews will visit the graves of relatives or righteous people, to pray to God for a sweet new year.
It is believed that the prayers are heard ‘in the merit of’ the righteous.
Grand feasts are essential on both nights of Rosh Hashanah. A wide array of customary dishes, such as honey cake, brisket, tzimmes, and various other Rosh Hashanah recipes, are available.
Attending the High Holy Day services during Rosh Hashanah is a common practice, where the shofar can be heard.
Rosh Hashanah is seen as a time to cast off sin and ask for forgiveness, which is called Tashlich. The idea is taken from Micah 7.
Micah 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
The ceremony used to be marked by emptying your pockets into the water, today it is more common to throw breadcrumbs.to symbolize casting away their sins.
It is also customary to eat a new fruit on the second night of Rosh Hashanah as a symbol of new beginnings.

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is considered the most important holiday in the Jewish faith.
It falls in the month of Tishrei (September or October in the Gregorian calendar) and marks the culmination of the 10 Days of Awe, a period of introspection and repentance that follows Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
Jews are encouraged to make amends and ask forgiveness for sins committed during the past year.
The holiday is observed with a 25-hour fast and a special religious service.
Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah are known as Judaism’s High Holy Days.
Christians, if they sin, ask Jesus to forgive them of their sin right then or when they come to the knowledge of a sin. Christians repent (change of mind and heart) and ask for forgiveness.
If you are being told that you don’t have to repent or ask for forgiveness if you sin, you are being told a lie from the devil, and anyone that teaches that is of the devil and doesn’t know God.
