The so-called Global Censorship Movement of the left under the guise of Democracy is of the devil and very deceitful. What is labeled as hate speech often consists of truths that the left disapproves of.

A notable censorship movement is emerging in democracies around the world. This includes British citizens charged over social media posts and the arrest of the owner of the social media platform Telegram in France.
Brazil shut down Elon Musk’s X for non-compliance with censorship restrictions, and Mark Zuckerberg disclosed pressure from the Biden White House to censor unwanted stories on Facebook and Instagram.
Last month, a Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression poll found that nearly one in three Americans now believe the First Amendment “goes too far. “Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz told MSNBC in 2022, “I think we need to push back on this. There’s no guarantee of free speech based on misinformation or hate speech, especially in our democracy.”
The freedom to express unpopular opinions is crucial for a free society. Nevertheless, governments and political leaders are threatening this fundamental freedom.
An investigation found documents from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) suggesting that in 2021, the agency collaborated with social media platforms to label individuals posting “misinformation” as “domestic threat actors,” possibly violating the First Amendment.
The website displaying the operation was taken down, but it was later found using the “Wayback Machine.” A CISA spokesman denied censorship and suggested the material may have been removed because it was confusing.
CISA is under Homeland Security, where they tried to create a disinformation czar. Documents from USAID reveal that the agency encourages other nations to censor social media. The censorship situation is worse in other Western democracies.
In Great Britain, police charge thousands of citizens annually over social media posts. One video shows an officer arresting a man for improper use of electronic communications. Britain’s top police official has threatened to extradite Americans who cause trouble in the UK.
The EU is introducing the Digital Services Act (DSA), which requires major platforms to combat disinformation. The decree is ambiguous and concerning. Here’s an excerpt from the DSA document:
This regulation harmonizes rules for intermediary services to ensure a safe, predictable online environment, address illegal content dissemination, protect fundamental rights, and promote innovation.
According to technology expert Dr. Norman Lewis from the think tank MCC Brussels, the European Union no longer supports free speech online. He argues that only speech approved by the EU is allowed, referring to it as a “censorship operating system.”
The EU’s Digital Services Act mandates tech companies to remove content that Brussels opposes. According to Lewis, this is a strategy to control public discourse. He argues that terms like “hate speech” and “woke” are vague and used to restrict speech under the guise of free speech.
EU regulators, also known as bureaucrats, will decide what 450 million people in the EU can see. Major platforms will have to comply or face penalties. EU Commissioner Thierry Breton recently warned Elon Musk over his interview with Donald Trump.
America’s First Amendment was created to prevent censorship and defend speech that the majority may find offensive. The Supreme Court has ruled that the First Amendment protects the freedom to express “the thought that we hate.” Turley emphasizes that free speech is a natural right, as the framers viewed it.
“They believed that free speech was a gift from God, not granted by the government. It defines you as a human being. Some believe recent riots in Britain were due to citizens’ inability to express views on mass immigration without being arrested.”
The former editor-in-chief of USA Today and Director of the Free Speech Center at Middle Tennessee State University says First Amendment freedom of speech is vital to America’s existence.
“We need an environment where all ideas can be shared, regardless of merit,” he said. “And unless you can speak as you wish, then there is no way we can remain rich and strong as a nation.”
