Concerning the possibility of a new pandemic, experts have advised Chinese scientists to cease testing with a novel strain of COVID-19 that kills 100% of “humanized mice.”
According to a recent study from Beijing, the fatal virus, known as GX_P2V, attacked the brains of mice in a Wuhun-like experiment that mirrored the genetic makeup of humans.
When every infected mouse died after eight days, researchers noticed a “surprisingly” high death rate. The mice had become highly lethargic, had lost weight rapidly, and had a slumped posture in the days leading up to their deaths.
Most eerie of all, their eyes turned completely white the day before they died.
However, experts have cautioned against the “recklessly” carried out research. At the Genetics Institute at University College London, a specialist in epidemiology issued a warning, calling the research “terrible” and “scientifically totally pointless.”
“He wrote on X: “I can see nothing of vague interest that could be learned from force-infecting a weird breed of humanized mice with a random virus. Conversely, I could see how such stuff might go wrong.”
He expressed his concerns about the lack of information regarding biosafety precautions, suggesting this could lead to a potential pandemic. Meanwhile, a retired Stanford professor of medicine, also voiced his concern, warning: “This madness must be stopped before too late.”
The terrifying study is the first of its kind to report a 100 percent mortality rate in mice infected by the COVID-19 virus, surpassing previous results from separate studies, the researchers wrote.
