The document contains strategic simulations, expert insights, and experiences gathered from leading institutions in the field. The authors suggest that machines will continue to evolve until 2027, at which point a decision will need to be made between two paths: either accelerating the technological race or prioritizing regulation and reorganization.
The report, titled “AI 2027,” asserts that within two years, advanced artificial intelligence systems will surpass human performance in numerous functions, resulting in the automation of a significant portion of administrative work.
The central conflict over technological development is likely between the US and China. In a worst-case scenario, advanced machines could be deployed in various sectors, including the military, by the end of this decade.
Additionally, due to their advanced argumentative capabilities, these machines would start to influence human decisions. As time passed, they would begin to operate autonomously. They might outsmart governments, create a robot army, and unleash a biological weapon that could wipe out humanity.
They will continue expanding their operations until Earth becomes insufficient, and then start colonizing space. Although it may seem exaggerated, the authors assert that the risks of losing control over AI technologies could be catastrophic.
The alternative path, however, offers a hopeful vision: developing a plan to prevent the misuse of intelligent machines, thereby ensuring humanity’s preservation.
With increased regulation, it would be possible to monitor the development of the AI systems, which would begin to work alongside leaders and authorities, fostering progress and global prosperity.
Future leaders in AI are collaborating with political figures and companies to develop a comprehensive plan that ensures technological advancements benefit society as a whole.
One leader emphasized that the new report, currently under development, advocates greater control over technological advancement and demands greater transparency from companies engaged in AI development.
This involves publishing documents that outline the guiding principles for each system, serving as a “constitution.” The group also recommends that leading AI companies release public safety reports detailing associated risks and their management measures.
The lack of transparency regarding operations in large AI companies poses one of today’s biggest risks. We are increasingly relying on these AIs, granting them more influence and power.
We will ultimately hand over control of significant parts of society to systems that we do not fully understand. That is what concerns me,” he said.
