According to a recent congressional report, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) offers tax incentives to fentanyl exporters, which encourages them to increase the supply of this deadly drug in the United States. In 2022, synthetic opioids like fentanyl caused the deaths of over 108,000 Americans, as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The US has seen more deaths from fentanyl overdoses than the total number of deaths during the 20-year-long Vietnam War. In contrast, China reportedly had zero fentanyl-related overdose deaths during the same period.
The House Select Committee on the CCP has released a report revealing the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has been giving tax breaks to fentanyl exporters since 2018. The report was presented before a hearing on Tuesday.
Chinese government subsidizes companies producing fentanyl analogs, precursors, and synthetic narcotics only for sales outside China – Chairman Mike Gallagher, R-Wis.
Chinese VAT rebates are being used to increase exports of illegal synthetic narcotics, according to a report. At least 17 chemical compounds, including fentanyl, MDMA, and PCP, are eligible for the rebates.
Report: Some fentanyl producers got rebates of up to 13%. CCP is involved in some producing firms. Govt. entities like a Chinese prison & a company also trafficking fentanyl.
During his testimony, former Attorney General Bill Barr stated that the United States has been aware for a long time that the People’s Republic of China is the primary source of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that is causing the deaths of many Americans.
Barr acknowledged that some people may find it difficult to believe that a modern state would be involved in a campaign of mass murder against another country’s citizens.
However, he pointed out that the evidence provided by the Committee’s work is powerful and provides proof that China is complicit in this crime.
