Just days after reports emerged that the Iranian regime is contemplating a return to diplomacy with Washington, an Iranian lawmaker issued a stark warning on Sunday:
A missile program, two decades in the making, is ready to be employed to strike American soil. “Perhaps our next missile will precisely target Washington,” Amir Hayat-Moqaddam declared to Didban Iran.
Hayat-Moqaddam, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, stated emphatically that the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has dedicated the past 20 years to ensuring the capability to launch strikes against the United States from Iranian ships.
Although the lawmaker stated that the technology is not ready yet, it “remains within our reach” and warned that attacks on European countries are already feasible.
“With our existing missiles, we can strike France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and all of Western and Eastern Europe,” he continued.
The Iranian legislator confidently asserted that its vessels can approach the United States, effectively reducing the distance to major cities like New York and Washington from about 10,000 kilometers to just 2,000 kilometers.
The threat arises less than two weeks before Iran is expected to either agree to a new nuclear deal with the West, show a willingness to engage meaningfully with the U.S. and Europe, or face the reinstatement of sanctions that would further isolate the Islamic Republic.
Reports confirm that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has officially endorsed a return to nuclear negotiations with the West.
Last week, insider sources confirmed that Khamenei is openly supporting the resumption of nuclear negotiations with Washington and other Western powers.
This move occurs despite persistent demands for Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions, with Iranian officials firmly asserting that the program will continue unabated. Israel’s Foreign Ministry recently shared a post on social media highlighting the latest threats from Iran, stating that Iran is now “threatening Europe.”
These remarks are expected to prompt a response from the United States as the deadline for resuming negotiations approaches. Furthermore, these factors are expected to shape Israel’s strategies regarding anticipated future military actions.
Analysts widely believe that Israel may be contemplating additional military operations against Iran, potentially focusing on remaining nuclear infrastructure or targeting nuclear scientists and officials who are currently in hiding.
