How Iran could retaliate against America if they get involved

U.S. forces have been deployed to the Middle East amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, raising concerns about possible Iranian retaliation and American hostages.

Khosro Sayeh Isfahani, a senior research analyst at the National Union for Democracy in Iran, told Newsweek that direct U.S. involvement in hostilities could trigger Tehran to activate its “Axis of Resistance” militias and intelligence sleeper cells globally.

The USS Nimitz carrier strike group is heading to the region from the South China Sea, with the move expedited due to rising tensions, according to the Navy Times. Hamidreza Azizi from the German Institute for International and Security Affairs noted that Tehran is growing increasingly concerned about the possibility of direct U.S. involvement, which could significantly alter the situation.

President Donald Trump has called for a genuine end to the conflict, but Iran views his intentions as possibly deceptive, raising concerns about military intervention, according to Azizi. Israel claims full aerial superiority over Tehran and has destroyed over 120 missile launchers in central Iran, which is one-third of Iran’s arsenal. This dominance has limited Iran’s ability to respond as aggressively as it would like, Azizi noted.

Tehran is strategizing to conserve its missile arsenal in case of direct U.S. involvement, preparing for a potential escalation of conflict. The U.S. has military sites in at least 19 locations in the Middle East, including eight permanent bases in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which house 40,000 to 50,000 personnel.

Tehran is currently avoiding direct attacks on U.S. forces, using limited drone strikes in Iraq as warnings. Any direct U.S. intervention would be seen as a significant threat to Iran and could lead to devastating damage. In retaliation, Iran may target U.S. bases and attempt to disrupt oil production and transportation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean, serving as a vital shipping route. Esmail Kosari, head of Iran’s parliamentary defense committee, stated that closing the strait—through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil transits—is under serious consideration. He noted that such a move could be seen as an existential threat to the system, according to Iranian state media.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has noted an increase in electronic interference in the Gulf and Strait, which is impacting vessel positional reporting. Larsen stated that if U.S. involvement in Iran escalates, Iran might threaten ships without ties to Israel. He emphasized that Iranian forces are skilled in asymmetric warfare and have been preparing for potential attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and nearby waters.

This area serves as a gateway to the Red Sea and the Suez, located between Djibouti and Yemen, with its narrowest point measuring approximately 15 miles. The Iran-controlled Houthis may increase missile attacks on commercial shipping, significantly disrupting global supply chains. Isfahani noted that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has avoided mentioning the U.S. in an effort to mislead Washington through deceptive diplomacy.

“If necessary, the Iranian regime may launch missile and drone strikes against U.S. targets in the region and activate its ‘Axis of Resistance’ militias, along with sleeper cells from its Ministry of Intelligence and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, to conduct terrorist attacks and take Americans hostage.”

“Members of the Axis may launch drone and missile strikes against U.S. bases in the region. Based on recent actions, Iran could also target U.S. forces and embassies in the Middle East, which Trump might view as a proxy for direct confrontation.

Genesis 6:6 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and diseases; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
