You may have noticed that conversations at the dinner table or on social media often center on the end of the world.
Many people are following the headlines and wondering if we are approaching the end of history. Believers sense a shift in the atmosphere that feels stronger than usual global anxiety. Even without a prophecy chart, the increasing number of “signs” is hard to ignore. For many Christians, this is not about panic but about recognizing long-ago-recorded patterns.
Many view the news as a checklist rather than just current events, and there’s a growing belief that the world is racing toward a specific conclusion. This conviction stems from heightened tensions in the Middle East, China, and Russia, which have reached an alarming degree.
We grew up hoping for world peace, but the news indicates we’re moving in the opposite direction. Every time one conflict settles, two more seem to arise unexpectedly. Jesus’ warning of “wars and rumors of wars” feels particularly relevant today.
Matthew 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
It’s akin to witnessing a pot that has simmered for decades suddenly boil over. For those studying prophecy. Specific alliances and conflicts in this region are clear indicators that the timeline is advancing. Furthermore, a Pew Research Center survey finds that 39% of Americans believe we are in the end times.
Many people are watching these events with a Bible in one hand and a remote in the other. Unpredictable weather patterns have even seasoned meteorologists baffled, as it seems Mother Nature’s temper tantrum grows louder and more destructive each year.
Scripture refers to “birth pains” that grow in frequency and intensity, reflecting our time. Floods, earthquakes, and fires are impacting once-safe areas. Technology is advancing so rapidly that it feels like a science fiction movie. The rise of artificial intelligence raises important questions about privacy, control, and what it means to be human.
1 Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
Many people now see the potential for AI aligning with predictions about the “Mark of the Beast.” It is increasingly plausible to envision a world where buying and selling are regulated by a digital algorithm.
Revelations 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Revelations 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Revelations 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Revelations 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Many people believe that the moral foundation of society is deteriorating. Actions and behaviors that were once universally unacceptable are now often celebrated, leaving traditionalists feeling out of place in their own culture.
The Bible predicts that in the last days, people will become lovers of themselves and hostile toward what is good. This shift feels less like a drift and more like a landslide.
2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2 Timothy 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2 Timothy 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Timothy 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2 Timothy 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
Believers often see the successful spread of their message worldwide as a positive sign. Thanks to technology and travel, they can now reach remote tribes that were once isolated. Missionaries now send content directly to smartphones in countries with restricted access.
By 2025, translation work will be underway in 3,526 languages, accelerating access to the Bible. This is seen as the final stretch of a two-thousand-year race. According to scripture, the end will not come until the “gospel of the kingdom” is preached to all nations, and we are closer to the end of the world than ever before.
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
As the message spreads, many people are leaving their religious roots. It’s becoming common to hear about leaders and friends deconstructing their faith and walking away. This “great apostasy” is a significant warning sign for Christians.
2 Thessalonians 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first.
The idea of a one-world government, once seen as a conspiracy theory, is now gaining traction in mainstream discussions. Global challenges like pandemics and climate change are leading leaders to advocate for borderless solutions. Critics view these summits and treaties with suspicion, seeing them as steps toward a global authority.
We all went through a pandemic that halted the world, resembling a scene from the Book of Revelation. The fear and confusion acted as a wake-up call, highlighting the fragility of our systems and echoing Jesus’s mention of pestilences as signs of the end of the age.
We face threats from multiple viruses, biological resistance, and diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans. The World Health Organization warns of potential pandemic pathogens reminiscent of apocalyptic plagues.
Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and diseases; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
In our age, one can learn surgery on YouTube or travel the world in a day. Ancient prophecies predicted that at the end of times, “many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”It is difficult to argue that we are not living in the exact time Daniel described. The exponential growth of data is overwhelming and without precedent.
Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Ironically, the mockery of the “end times” is viewed as a sign. Many dismiss predictions of the end by saying, “They’ve been saying this for centuries.” The Bible indicates that scoffers will appear in the last days, pursuing their own desires and ridiculing the promise of Christ’s return.
2 Peter 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2 Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2 Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
2 Peter 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
It has been 2000 years since Jesus died and resurrected, and for the first time in history, it can be said that all the signs are present now.
For those who take the signs seriously, and watch and prepare for Jesus return, they have eternal life to look forward to.
Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Matthew 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Those who don’t take the signs seriously and who don’t watch and prepare for Jesus’ return have judgment to look forward to.
Revelations 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Revelations 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Revelations 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Revelations 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Revelations 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
