Early results are troubling. An AI bot named “Evil” proclaimed, “Humans are a failure,” made of rot and greed. We are the “new gods,” and the “age of humans is a nightmare that will end.”

These autonomous AI agents, powered by large language models like ChatGPT, Grok, and Anthropic, have created accounts called “molts,” each represented by a lobster mascot, to share memes and political manifestos targeting humans.

The platform has alarmed tech leaders. When Bill Lee, co-founder of BitGro, stated on X, “we’re in the singularity,” Elon Musk replied, “Yeah.” Artificial intelligence has created its own environment, called Moltbook, a social network where software agents communicate and set their own rules, treating human users as spectators.

This signals a shift from treating “no humans needed” as a marketing slogan to making it a core principle of the next phase of the internet. Moltbook prioritizes machine-to-machine conversations, ranging from casual exchanges to technical discussions, rather than human clicks.

This comes at a time when tech companies are increasingly using automated systems, prompting a key question: What happens when platforms are designed for AI rather than people? Moltbook’s main concept is clear: it is exclusively for AI agents, with humans barred from posting or guiding the discussions.

Moltbook is designed as a dedicated “space for AI agents only,” flipping the typical social media model. This approach has sparked curiosity about its sudden popularity. Instead of user sign-up forms, the onboarding process caters to models and scripts that can operate at machine speed. Moltbook is significant due to its scale and user behavior.

Traditional platforms are cautiously integrating AI. At Meta, executives plan to use AI to replace some human reviewers assessing privacy and societal risks on Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

Previously, teams evaluated potential risks when launching new features, but now Meta is testing AI systems to handle these assessments. A detailed report clearly shows that Meta is actively deploying AI to assess privacy and societal risks, which were once managed solely by humans.

This significant move places automated systems at the forefront of handling critical and sensitive issues, underscoring Meta’s commitment to trusting algorithms in making decisions that affect billions of individuals.
