Jesus’ words serve as a powerful reminder that the pursuit of truth is essential. He warned that only a few would discover this knowledge. Let us heed his wise counsel and strive to be among those few who find the Truth.
The church needs to awaken because many claim salvation, but the Bible teaches that only a few are truly saved.
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
The very next verse serves as a warning about false prophets, emphasizing the importance of discernment. It alerts readers to the potential dangers posed by those who may appear outwardly wise, yet are misleading in their teachings or intentions.
Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work sin.
Have you ever wondered how some people miss out on eternal life? Even though they prophesied, cast out devils, and did many wonderful works in Jesus’ name, Jesus goes on to say he never knew them because they work sin.
It is evident that they attend church and claim to be Christians, but Jesus stated that he never knew them.
1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil.
2 Timothy 3:1-8 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Have a form of godliness but deny they have to be godly. Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, people who resist the truth.
James observes that these individuals may hear the message, but they fail to apply it in their lives.
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Be cautious of false teachers, warns Peter. They will deceive you with lies and twist the truth to suit their agendas. Stay vigilant and don’t let them manipulate you.
2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 Peter 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
Many in the church world are not interested in the truth but prefer a version of the Bible that pleases their ears. Unfortunately, this is happening now at the end of the world.
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
These individuals are self-absorbed and seek pleasure, which leads them to gravitate toward false preachers and lukewarm churches.
2 Timothy 4: 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Eternal life is the most important thing a person can obtain on earth, but many don’t take it very seriously.
Philippians 2:20 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
