Russia warns Britain: ‘You’ll regret it’ if they shoot down Moscow Jets in its Airspace

Russia has warned Britain and NATO that they will “regret” shooting down its jets in the airspace.

On Saturday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke at the UN, condemning the West and promising a “decisive response” to any attacks on Russian airspace.

This followed recent incidents where Russian fighter jets were sent over Estonia, and NATO planes shot down Russian drones over Poland.

“Any aggression against my country will be met with a decisive response,” Mr. Lavrov stated, denying Russia’s involvement with the jets and drones.

He warned NATO and the EU that if any object is downed in Russian airspace, it would be seen as a serious violation of sovereignty, leading to regrettable consequences.

The 75-year-old Foreign Minister criticized Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz for his “militaristic rhetoric.” At the UN, Belarus’s Foreign Minister, Maxim Ryzhenkov, listed war threats and announced the deployment of hypersonic “Oreshnik” ballistic missiles.

“The Doomsday Clock now shows less than one and a half minutes to midnight, symbolizing the threat of nuclear apocalypse,” he said.

“This is the closest the clock has ever been to midnight,” said Mr. Ryzhenkov. To move the minute hand away from midnight, Belarus has deployed nuclear-capable Oreshnik missiles near Minsk.

A secret base is being constructed near Pavlovka, located close to the NATO border with Lithuania. Belarus also has Russian Iskander-M short-range nuclear missiles stationed on its territory.

Russia recently conducted military activities near the Polish border in the Kaliningrad exclave. The Foreign Minister claimed the deployment of weaponry was necessary for security and noted that Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia’s withdrawal from a landmine treaty reflects escalating tensions.

“They’re even laying mines on our borders,” he said.
