Jesus overcame temptation with the Word of God. It was after Jesus fasted 40 days and his flesh was weak that the devil tempted him.
The same is true for Christians; when they get into the flesh, the devil will tempt them.
But you can never be tempted above what you can handle, and God will always make a way out.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
The Bible says to submit to God and resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

So if you want to stand against temptation, then resist him and remember the first half of the scripture: submit yourselves to God first and then resist the devil.
That is why studying the Bible is so important, that when the devil comes to you and tempts you, you know scriptures to say unto him to resist the temptation.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
