Godfather of AI” quits Google to warn “dangers” of technology he helped to develop

Geoffrey Hinton, who has been called the “Godfather of AI,” confirmed Monday that he left his role at Google last week to speak out about the “dangers” of the technology he helped to develop.

He worked part-time at Google for ten years on the company’s AI development efforts. However, he has since grown concerned about the technology and his role in advancing it.

Geoffrey Hinton, the “godfather of AI,” has warned that AI could potentially wipe out humanity.

Geoffrey Hinton, one of the pioneers of AI, has made a startling admission – he now regrets ever working on AI. This bold statement from someone who has dedicated their life to the field is a powerful indication that we must take a step back and re-evaluate the impact of AI on our society.

The fact that even the most respected experts in the field are expressing concern about the consequences of AI should serve as a wake-up call for all of us. We need to have an open, honest discussion about how we can ensure that AI is used for good and not harm.

Last year, there was a renewed interest in ChatGPT, which led to a competition among tech companies to create and utilize AI tools in their products. OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google are leading this trend, while IBM, Amazon, Baidu, and Tencent are also developing similar technologies.

In March of 2023, several prominent figures in the tech industry signed a letter urging AI labs to halt the training of the most powerful AI systems for at least six months, citing “profound risks to society and humanity”.

In an interview, Hinton shares concerns about AI’s potential to eliminate jobs and create a world where truth is difficult to discern.

During his speech at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in Mumbai in 2021, Hinton highlighted the remarkable speed at which AI is advancing and how it will have a significant impact on society. He acknowledged that the effects of this transformation would not all be positive, as we do not fully understand the implications of this rapid development.

Hinton isn’t the first Google employee to raise a red flag on AI. In July, the company fired an engineer who claimed an unreleased AI system had become alive.

Ian Hogarth is an investor, who specializes in AI startups in Europe and the U.S. In a recent essay for the Financial Times, he argued that companies and professionals involved in AI must exercise caution and slow down the race towards achieving AGI (artificial general intelligence).

Early on in the piece, the writer mentions that a God-like AI could be beyond our control or understanding and could lead to the obsolescence or destruction of the human race.

Yuval Noah Harari, a renowned historian, author, and scholar, has suggested that AI chatbots like ChatGPT can create their own scriptures and establish sects and cults that may evolve into religions.

He warned that robots could imprison us in an illusory world similar to the one in the 1999 sci-fi movie, The Matrix.

“Contrary to certain conspiracy theories, it is not necessary to implant chips in people’s brains to control or influence them,” he stated. “For thousands of years, prophets, poets, and politicians have used language and stories to manipulate and control people while reshaping society,” he added.

“AI is now likely to be capable of doing it. And once it can, it won’t have to deploy killer robots to shoot us down. It can get humans to pull the trigger,”

Conner Leahy, the CEO of the company, has issued a dire warning that should not go unheeded. According to him, we must be cautious in our development and deployment of AI. He firmly believes that the unchecked advancement of AI could lead to the extinction of our species. It is imperative that we take this warning seriously and act with responsibility and prudence as we move forward with AI technology. The future of humanity may very well depend on it.

ChatGPT, an AI-powered assistant, presented three ways humanity could be wiped off the Earth.

(1) Global warming! ” pointing to how rising sea levels, extreme weather, and food scarcity could lead to “widespread displacement, conflict, and instability.” increase in severe weather events, such as hurricanes and droughts, as well as a potential “ecosystem collapse” that could disrupt “global food webs.”

(2) Nuclear war! Currently, “threats of a global conflict involving nuclear weapons” and “geopolitical tensions and regional conflicts could potentially escalate and result in devastating consequences.”

(3) The rise in AI! “The continued evolution of artificial intelligence and robotics also raises concerns about the potential impact on employment and societal structures,” ChatGPT said. “The automation of jobs could lead to significant economic and social disruption, potentially contributing to widespread unrest and instability.”

“People need to revisit the scriptures in revelatios in the Bible  that mention an image coming alive, commanding everyone to worship it, and threatening death to those who don’t follow.”

The image makes everyone to take the mark.

We cannot deny the inevitable truth; the computer and AI will undoubtedly be the imageIt is clear that technology has advanced beyond our wildest imagination, and it is only a matter of time before AI takes over.

Revelations 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Revelations 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Revelations 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelations 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
