The question was are you a Christian, not do you go to church or say you’re a Christian.
Are you a real Christian like the Bible teaches?
If not, now is a good time to start.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
You are to be a living sacrifice, holy is your reasonable service to God. Reasonable service means as much as is appropriate or fair.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Are you conformed to the world? Conformed means to be like. If you didn’t have that Christian bumper sticker on your car or clothes that has writings on it about God could people tell you’re a Christian?
Are you just a Christian while you’re in church or while you’re with other Christians?
A good way to tell if you’re a Christian is to ask yourself would you act that way if Jesus was standing by you? Would you go to that place and take Jesus there?
The next question you should ask yourself is your mind transformed by the word of God?
The word transformed comes from the Greek word metamorphoo which is where we get the word metamorphosis, what a caterpillar does to transform into a butterfly.
A butterfly digests its body and is transformed into a butterfly. We die out of our old ways and lifestyle and become Christian. How do we do this? By renewing our mind by the word of God.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
No matter what TV evangelist or church denominations tell you what a Christian is, the Bible has the final say since it is God-breathed.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
Our doctrine must come from the word.
There is only one way to God and that is Jesus. It’s Jesus way, Jesus truth, and Jesus life.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
And where do we find that way, truth, and life?
In the word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Many people are deceived by books about God or denominational teachings or TV preachers.
2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 Peter 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
The Bible teaches that we must study the word of God.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Not just study the word of God but be born again by the word of God.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
And the way you grow in God is through the word of God.
1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.
Many who go to church and claim to be Christians are disobedient to the word and stumble at the truth of it.
1 Peter 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
1 Peter 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
1 Peter 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient.
The Bible teaches many will miss the mark and only a few will find it.
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Many in the churches will not make it because they are sinners!
Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Romans 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Romans 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Remember many in the church world will think they are going to enter into the kingdom of God and Jesus will tell them he never knew them and to depart from him because they were sinners.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mathew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work sin.
This should be every Christian saying.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
