Recent weather conditions have raised concerns about an impending climate tipping point. Severe hurricanes have hit the Atlantic, while the Amazon forest is experiencing a drought thirty times worse than in previous instances. This drought has caused the Rio Negro, one of the largest rivers in the world and a major Amazon tributary, to shrink to a trickle, leaving communities that rely on river transport stranded.
In 2023, both European and North American populations endured extreme heat, leading to the loss of thousands of lives. Almost two billion people across the globe experienced the consequences of global warming. During February, the average global temperature reached 1.8 degrees Celsius, which is much higher than the target set by the Paris Accord of 1.5 degrees Celsius over preindustrial times.
Europe’s February temperature was 3.3 degrees Celsius higher than 19th-century averages, making it the highest recorded global temperature.
Sea temperatures averaged 21°C in the Northern Hemisphere, 1.5°C above normal. Meanwhile, the Southern Hemisphere was 0.8°C above historic average. As a result, the Arctic and Antarctic sea ice levels reached record lows.
Antarctic ice is melting faster due to warming seas, signaling danger for the planet. Climate scientists are increasingly worried we may reach a critical point where the climate shifts dramatically.
Rapid global warming occurs when climate changes happen in a few years. This triggers interrelated tipping points that amplify the sudden shift in world climate, pushing the planet out of the temperate humans have enjoyed..
Sea levels rose rapidly by tens of meters due to the melting of Greenland ice and ice loss in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. As a result, an entire area in northern Europe, known as Doggerland, which connected the United Kingdom to Europe, disappeared forever beneath the waves. Before the Younger Dryas warming, my ancestors could have walked from Scotland to the Netherlands, but this was no longer possible due to rising sea levels.
The tragedy of our limited and shortened horizons is that we cannot recall past planetary disasters. The Biblical account of Noah and the Great Flood is an artifact of one such disaster, when rising seas flooded the isthmus between Asia and the Mediterranean, from North to South.
Noah’s story is a warning of what will happen at the end of the world.

The ark at the end of the world will be the resurrection.

1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
