Scientists Warn: Earth is headed for a Mass Extinction and It’s Happening Fast

If this headline were published in the 1950s or earlier, it would fill the churches, and great revivals across the world would be happening.

But in 2025, it’s just another headline that most people ignore and go on about their lives, which happens to be another sign of the end of the world.

In Matthew 24, it says that a sign of the end of the world would be like Noah’s time.

Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

In Noah’s time, every thought was evil and violence upon the earth.

Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 5:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Matthew 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Matthew 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

These two scriptures in Matthew mean that in Noah’s time, they were living and were not preparing for the times.

The question is, will you be asleep when Jesus returns, or will you be awake and watching for the return of Jesus?

1 Thessalonians 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Are you ready?

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Are you feeding your family the truth and telling them it’s the end of the world?

Matthew 24:45  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

Matthew 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Are you spreading the Gospel?

Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

Are you caught up in the world and all it has to offer, or preparing for Jesus’ return?

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

When scientists are telling you it’s the end of the world, and billionaires are preparing shelters and preparing for the apocalypse, and NASA is doing space exploration for the survival of the human race, it should show everyone that the end of the world is happening now.

Earth has experienced five major mass extinctions that drastically changed evolution. Scientists warn we are entering a sixth extinction event, caused by human activity.

Species are disappearing at rates hundreds or thousands of times faster than natural extinction rates, and this is worsening due to climate change. Unlike past mass extinctions caused by natural events, the current crisis is driven by human activities like habitat destruction, pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Species typically go extinct at a natural rate of about one per million per year. However, current extinction rates are 100 to 10,000 times higher, indicating an unprecedented loss of species in human history. This rapid decline signifies a serious breakdown in the natural systems that have preserved stable extinction rates for millions of years.

The swift decline of species is preventing ecosystems from adapting or recovering, causing disruptions across entire food webs. Over the past 50 years, global wildlife populations have dropped by an average of 69%. This means that for every 10 animals present in 1970, only about three remain today.

The losses impact all life forms, from insects to large mammals, leading to severe declines in biodiversity. These decreases threaten the overall abundance of life on Earth, undermining ecosystem stability and the essential services that humans rely on, such as pollination, water purification, and climate regulation from healthy forests and wetlands.

Rising temperatures are forcing species to migrate to cooler areas, but many cannot move fast enough or find suitable habitats. Those adapted to specific temperature ranges are now facing intolerable conditions. Mountain species are running out of higher elevations, while Arctic animals are losing their ice habitats.

In the oceans, warming and acidification are harming marine life, causing massive coral bleaching and shifts in fish populations toward the poles as tropical waters become too hot.

Many species struggle to adapt to rapid environmental changes caused by human development, agriculture, and resource extraction. The destruction of forests for farmland, the draining of wetlands, and the conversion of grasslands into urban areas have led to habitat loss. This fragmentation creates isolated patches that cannot support viable populations, making it difficult for species to find homes, breed, and access food.

Many species need large territories or migration routes, but these have been disrupted by human development. Surviving species often end up in areas too small to support healthy populations.

Additionally, chemical pollution, plastic waste, and agricultural runoff contaminate air, water, and soil. Pesticides harm both pests and beneficial species like bees, while marine animals ingest plastics, and pollutants affect reproduction and development.

Pollution can weaken animals’ immune systems, disrupt their behavior, and make them more vulnerable to diseases and predators. These cumulative effects create toxic environments that hinder survival and reproduction, leading to population declines and local extinctions.

Moreover, human travel and trade have unintentionally introduced numerous species to inappropriate habitats. Invasive species threaten ecosystems by rapidly multiplying without natural predators and outcompeting native organisms for resources. They are a significant cause of extinction, especially in island and freshwater environments.

Some can alter soil chemistry or water flow, while others introduce diseases that native species cannot resist. This problem is worsening due to global travel and climate change, enabling invasive species to spread into new areas.

Oceans absorbing excess carbon dioxide are becoming more acidic, making it difficult for shellfish, corals, and other marine organisms to form their calcium carbonate shells and skeletons. This rapid acidification, occurring at the fastest rate in 300 million years, disrupts marine food webs and leaves wildlife little time to adapt.

Coral reefs, home to about 25% of marine species, are at significant risk, endangering countless dependent species. Additionally, insect populations are declining sharply, with studies showing a decrease of 75% or more in insect biomass in recent decades.

Insects are essential for pollinating plants and supporting food webs. Their decline threatens ecosystems, as many birds, bats, and fish rely on them for food. Despite their rapid reproduction, insect populations are decreasing, indicating worsening environmental conditions. Without insects, terrestrial ecosystems could collapse within a few years.

Furthermore, since 1970, freshwater ecosystems have seen an average decline of 84% in animal populations. Dams fragment rivers, while pollution and water extraction destroy aquatic habitats.

Climate change alters precipitation patterns and increases droughts and floods, stressing specialized freshwater species that cannot survive in degraded conditions. The decline in freshwater biodiversity undermines water quality and flood control essential for human communities.

Megafauna like elephants, rhinos, and large predators are highly vulnerable to extinction due to their significant territory needs, slow reproduction, and threats from hunting and human conflict. These animals are vital for ecosystem balance, controlling herbivore populations, dispersing seeds, and creating habitats for other species.

The disappearance of large animals can drastically alter ecosystems. For instance, without large herbivores, forests may become overgrown, and the loss of predators can lead to overgrazing that harms vegetation. These changes make it harder for remaining species to survive, often resulting in further extinctions.

Islands, which host many unique species that evolved in isolation, are especially vulnerable to threats like invasive species, habitat loss, and climate change. Island species often have small populations and limited genetic diversity, with few places to retreat when conditions worsen. Since 1500, approximately 75% of known extinctions have occurred on islands.

Tropical forests, which host most of Earth’s terrestrial biodiversity, are being destroyed at alarming rates due to agriculture, logging, and development. Many species likely go extinct before they are even discovered, resulting in the loss of potential medicines, foods, and resources.

Furthermore, rainforest destruction disrupts complex species relationships that have evolved over millions of years. Fragmented forests or farmland often cannot support specialized species that depend on specific plants or habitat conditions.

Biodiversity loss threatens the systems that provide clean air, water, fertile soil, and protection from natural disasters. Many medicines come from compounds in plants and animals at risk of extinction, and food security relies on genetic diversity in crops.

Ecosystem collapse could lead to social and economic instability as resources become scarce and environmental conditions worsen. The same actions driving mass extinction also threaten human health through pollution and climate change. Preventing mass extinction is essential for preserving the conditions that support human civilization.

Revelations 6:14  And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Revelations: 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

Luke 21:25  And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luke 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Luke 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
