What is the Atlantic meridian overturning circulation (AMOC), and why is it important?

The Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC) is an ocean current that delivers warm water from the tropics to the Arctic Circle.

This current brings heat, carbon, and nutrients from the tropics to the Arctic Circle, hugging along the west coast of the British Isles in the process.

The AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) makes many northern European cities more habitable and is considered one of the most crucial elements of the global climate regulation system. However, this system faces a threat for the first time in over 10,000 years.

The potentially catastrophic effects of AMOC’s collapse are widely known and were even depicted in the 2004 film The Day After Tomorrow.

For decades, scientists have tracked the impact of climate change on AMOC. By examining past climatic events, previous studies have identified a tipping point that could cause AMOC to end.

A new study published earlier this month finds that things are even more grim than previously believed. The circulation could fully shut down if it hits the tipping point, and it’s headed in that direction.

The issue is that melting glaciers are releasing an excess of freshwater into the oceanic conveyor belt. This excess freshwater dilutes the current’s saltiness, which in turn hinders the sinking process and weakens the current as a whole.

If the amount of freshwater continues to increase and crosses a tipping point, then the collapse of the AMOC happens quickly.

The so-called scientists who keep telling you that it’s not too late and if we all work together by lowering emissions, transitioning to renewable energy, and doing our part to keep Earth habitable are liars.

There are nine tipping points; we are at least six of them, and most likely, all have tipped. This is why everyone around the world is getting all this weird weather, and there is no turning back since each one reacts to the other, causing them to be worse, like a domino effect.

Whether one accepts this fact or not, it is the end of the world. It will be similar to Noah’s time when many continued their daily lives without repenting or acknowledging the clear signs of the end time.
