Thanksgiving is a great time to help the poor and starving worldwide

Many people in the world have little or nothing to eat.

Over 9 million people die of starvation every year, and most are children. So, if you live in a country with plenty of food, you have a reason to be thankful.

A man asked Jesus what do I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus replied:

Luke 10:27 Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

A man asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” In response, Jesus told a story about a man who was robbed and left for dead by the side of the road. Three people came across him, but only one stopped to help. The other two passed by without offering any assistance.

Today, we are reminded of the people starving in other countries who are often ignored and receive no help. Jesus tells the story of how one person stops to help a man in need.

At the end of the story, he calls three of his neighbors to him. The man who stopped to help was the one who responded. Jesus then said, “Go and do likewise.” This means that to love your neighbor is to help those in need.

So, this Thanksgiving, the question for you is: Will you help the poor and hungry and love your neighbor, or will you pass by and ignore them?

The Bible contains many promises about giving to the poor and hungry. This Thanksgiving presents a wonderful opportunity to help those in need and receive blessings from God.
