F-22 Raptors are being sent to the Middle East

A squadron of U.S. Air Force F-22 stealth fighters is deploying to the Middle East in response to Iran’s potential retaliation for the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week. The Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, has significantly bolstered U.S. forces in the region.

It has been reported that over the weekend, he deployed additional F-22s alongside the existing combat aircraft. Furthermore, the Navy’s aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, along with its wing of F/A-18EF Superhornet fighters and EA-18 Growler electronic warfare planes, has been added to the lineup.

In the event of another attack by Iran using hundreds of missiles and drones, the F-22 will lead U.S. forces in establishing a defensive shield across the region. The F-22 is the most advanced fighter in the world, and no adversary can match its capabilities.

The F-22 has supersonic speed even without using the afterburner, and its huge radar allows it to detect, track, and eliminate even the smallest targets. Additionally, the F-22 is so stealthy that it is hard to detect on radar. In fact, it would appear no larger than a bumblebee to Iran’s air defenses.

The F-22s are armed with air-to-air missiles and ground attack weapons. In addition, F-22 Raptor pilots effectively use long-range sensors to detect enemy activity. Raptor pilots fulfill a vital role as quarterbacks and long-range snipers.

The F-22s have previously been deployed to the Middle East and carried out air-to-ground strikes in Syria in 2014 and 2018. They have also patrolled with allies over eastern Syrian airspace in the fight against ISIS.

Russian and Syrian pilots over the battle zone were often unaware of the presence of the F-22s flying near them, sometimes even while flying at 50,000 feet or higher.

The Air Force has 183 F-22s stationed in Alaska and Hawaii to defend against Chinese and Russian bomber flights. The largest base is at Langley AFB, Virginia.

One Raptor was called to shoot down a Chinese spy balloon in February 2023. Airlines are canceling flights to Israel, Jordan, and Lebanon due to increasing tension in the Middle East.

In other news, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un presided over an event marking the movement of new nuclear-capable ballistic missile launchers to frontline units. State media reported this on Monday, marking the latest round of escalating tensions along the inter-Korean border.

The official Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim presided over a “ceremony for the transfer of 250 new-type tactical ballistic missile launchers” on Sunday in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang.

The KN-23 missile, believed to be used by Russia in its war against Ukraine, is supplied by North Korea as part of a growing economic and military relationship between the two isolated regimes, according to Washington and Seoul.

North Korea’s Foreign Ministry warned that the U.S. and its allies would bear responsibility for the “catastrophic consequences” of their “provocative acts” in the region. Pyongyang stated readiness to take necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, national security, and regional peace.

South Korea had fired warning shots at least three times since May when North Korean military personnel crossed the demarcation line, the midpoint of the Demilitarized Zone between the two countries.
