Knowing the Bible is Extremely Important

According to a survey conducted last year by the American Bible Society, the majority of Americans expressed a desire to read their Bibles more frequently. However, many cited lack of time as the main reason for being unable to do so.

Even more concerning is that only 6% of professing Christians hold a biblical worldview, with the overwhelming majority (96%) choosing to believe what they want about life, as the survey explained.

“We often don’t realize how much our culture influences us. The truth of the Bible goes against the world we live in. To adopt a different perspective based on Scripture, we must study the Bible and receive a transformed mind.”

Studying the Bible involves more than spending twenty minutes reading it once or twice a week; many people are satisfied with only knowing a few Bible passages.

According to a 2018 Pew Research Center survey, six in ten so-called Christians believe in at least one of four evil New Age themes outlined in the study. These themes include believing in psychics, believing in reincarnation, and believing in astrology.

In a 2022 YouGov poll, 87% of Americans believe in some form of new-age spiritualism. The poll found that 55% believe in karma, 41% believe in hypnosis,  and 29% believe in the “law of attraction,” also known as “manifesting.”

Many who claim to follow Jesus express beliefs that contradict Christianity due to a lack of understanding of the Bible and its core beliefs. It is crucial for individuals to make an effort to comprehend the teachings of Jesus and the Scriptures upon accepting the faith rather than embracing it without a thorough knowledge of the Bible.

Failure to understand Scripture and the principles of the Christian faith often leads to those claiming to follow Jesus holding beliefs contrary to Christianity. While many come to faith without a deep knowledge of the Bible, it is imperative that upon salvation, they prioritize understanding the Scripture and the teachings of Jesus. This should be taught in every church from every pulpit.

Believers who have accepted Jesus as their savior must dedicate themselves to studying the entirety of Scripture and allowing God’s words to transform them.
